The girls and I haven't done much today. We aren't feeling the best, especially mom. We have laid around watching movies all day. It has been very nice! And all of the sudden the quiet uneventful day got a little curve ball. The girls were having a small snack of dry cheerios. I escaped to go to the bathroom and soon was followed by Maya crying/whining about her nose. I asked if she bumped it. Her response, "yes." I then ask, "Can I kiss it?" Maya -"no." She continues to try to tell me about it and I continue to say, "Let me kiss it and make it feel better." Maya just wasn't having it. So, I pick her up and decide to look inside her nose since she keeps pointing to it and the outside looks ok. There in her right nostril looks like the bottom of cheerio. Now, I ask, "Maya, did you put a cheerio inside your nose?" Maya's response, "Yes." For a moment I wonder how am I going to get this out? Then, sadly, I remember an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond. In the episode they discuss this type of situation. The answer, Crunch and Blow. So I decide to pinch Maya's nose together. Nothing happened. I heard no crunching. Then I grab some toilet paper and ask her to blow her nose. (which is a chore for most 2 year olds) Maya tries and again nothing happens. About the time I'm starting to panic, she sneezes. Out comes the cheerio along with some extra snot. All is well again. Maya runs off like nothing happened. I ran after her to talk to her about not putting things up her nose. After some time lapsed I quizzed her. "Maya are you going to put anything up your nose again?" Maya - "No." Hopefully that’s the truth, next time we might not be so lucky with a quick recovery.
